Pew Internet: Mobile Health 2012

Mobile health is an emerging phenomenon and innovative providers are already identifying ways to reserve their share of the consumer’s “mobile real estate”.

The Pew Research Center study has these insights on mobile healthcare usage:

  • 85% of adults use a cell phone
  • 50% of smartphone owners use their devices to get health information
  • 20% of smartphone owners have health apps

Most importantly, younger demographics rely heavily on mobile health information. To engage this demographic effectively, text messaging and health apps are highly recommended.
