Shore Medical Center is an independent nonprofit community hospital in Somers Point, New Jersey. Before Flywire, it used two separate vendors to manage patient accounts before they reached bad-debt status. These vendors called patients and also physically mailed patient statements and bills. Because none of it was integrated with their Oracle Health EHR system, hospital staff could not see the documents patients were receiving.
Our patients would continue to ask, 'Can we set something up online? Can I do my payment plan myself, online?' When we weren't able to offer that... it just was very old-school.
By integrating Flywire with their Oracle Health EHR, Shore Medical Center patients can now see their bill, access payment plan options, and pay online within their familiar patient portal. The hospital now sends statements via text and email, allowing patients to receive bills faster than through traditional mail.
The financial impact was immediate.

The system has already been deployed for the radiology school and education department, with plans to include the hospital pharmacy, professional services, and retiree insurance premiums in the future.
