Flywire and UnionPay International announced an expansion of their multi-year partnership with the launch of a 2026 Summer Campaign, reinforcing their shared mission to simplify cross-border payments for students and families around the world.
Since partnering in 2018, Flywire and UnionPay have been committed to taking the cost, complexity, and friction out of international payments. This summer campaign represents the next evolution of that partnership - delivering tangible benefits for Chinese payers and expanding access to more competitive rates and a frictionless checkout experience.
What's New for Payers
The 2026 Summer Campaign brings three key advantages to UnionPay cardholders paying through Flywire:
- Better Rates, Higher Limits. Students and families now enjoy more competitive foreign exchange rates and increased payment limits, making international tuition affordable for more families.
- Simplified Process. Less paperwork, faster confirmations, and a streamlined one-page checkout mean students can pay their tuition, accommodation, and application fees with confidence—no hidden steps, no delays.
- Seamless Experience. The new integration delivers the simplicity UnionPay users expect, combined with Flywire's expertise in cross-border education and healthcare payments.
Expanding Credit Card Promotions Across Asia
Following the success of last year’s pilot campaign in Hong Kong, which drove significant growth in transaction volume, Flywire and UnionPay are continuing the promotion in Hong Kong this year and expanding it to South Korea for the first time. The expansion will enable more UnionPay credit cardholders across these markets to benefit from a more competitive and seamless cross-border payment experience.
Flywire Deepens Partnership with Bank of China
This year, the partnership expands to Credit Card holders where Flywire has also rolled out an exclusive promotion for BOC UnionPay credit cards when paying on Flywire.
This initiative builds on eight years of proven collaboration between Flywire and UnionPay, during which the companies have become a trusted corridor for international student and family payments from China.
Since the 2018 partnership launch, Flywire and UnionPay have delivered exceptional payment experiences - reduced foreign exchange rates, faster processing, and simplified checkout - enabling Chinese students to access international education with confidence.
