Humber College enrolls over 6,000 students from over 120 countries around the world. Those students need an ability to send us their tuition fees in an easy, simple, and affordable way. That's where Flywire comes in. Flywire is our partner that provides students with a platform to calculate what they would pay in their home currency and to get that currency directly to us with no middlemen or added fees, so their fees are paid in full, quickly and inexpensively for them.

Before we were a Flywire partner, we had students that would wire us money from around the world and for a number of reasons, we couldn't attribute that payment to the student. The student's fees weren't paid. Sometimes that caused admissions problems. It certainly caused grief in our financial department and we rectified that problem overnight by working with Flywire.

At Humber, we use a couple of products from Flywire. One is the International Student Payments, but we've also started using the Flywire Payment Plan solution. The payment plan solution is used by any student that wants to study at Humber in order to arrange payment of their fees that spreads that payment out over a number of months. The Flywire payment portal that we have also allows students the visibility to see what's due, when it's due, and reminders about when things are coming due. It provides a full customer service experience for the student.

We became a Flywire partner a number of years ago. We had quite a seamless implementation in terms of integrating with our financial systems. One thing that really made an impression with me is the way in which our financial services department had a significant workload moved off their desks in terms of the automation, the simplicity, and I think most notably, the lost payments.

The current global economic situations around the world are causing some students, depending on where they're from or being funded from some stress. The ability to allow students to get into flexible payment plans is a great win for them, and it's a good success story for the college.

What fundamentally changed for us when we adopted the Flywire platform is we could devote resources that were used up trying to match mismatch payments, trying to connect students and ensure registration was working, and direct those resources to something more meaningful in terms of our own operations and our support of students.
