Technology underpins student success, and for higher education institutions the Student Information System (SIS) is top of the tech stack. Integrating payments into the SIS allows institutions to provide students a seamless experience and their finance teams the ability to efficiently collect and reconcile payments across campus.
Working with more than 1,500 universities across six continents, the market leading SIS from Tribal Group enables their clients to efficiently manage processes throughout the student lifecycle, from recruitment to graduation. But a critical element was missing - payments.
The partnership between Tribal and Flywire began with demand, from mutual clients, for an integration to allow students to make a payment using the Flywire solution directly within the Tribal SITS environment. But it soon became clear that a partnership between Tribal and Flywire, and strategic development of their integrated solution, would drive additional value for clients.
Since the partnership was formalised, more than 20 clients have implemented and are reaping benefits from the joint solution. These benefits include a more streamlined payment process, up to seven-figure merchant fee savings, the elimination of many operational inefficiencies, and overall improved student satisfaction.
Working with Flywire has really opened our eyes to the importance of enabling payments in the Tribal SITS environment, to simplifying the payments process for students and driving value for clients. Flywire’s insights into the payment needs of students and university processes are truly enlightening, and working collaboratively to deliver efficiencies and savings to stretched university teams is vital to everyone’s success.
In its current iteration, the Flywire integration with Tribal SITS provides students and families in EMEA and APAC a highly-tailored, convenient and secure digital payment experience. This can be customised by university, country, and currency. It also enables institutions to consolidate the payment options they offer, accelerating funds flow, easing reconciliation and refunds, and streamlining back-office finance operations. Institutions can also create custom payment plans to provide students and families with greater flexibility. In addition, Flywire’s around-the-clock multilingual support team handles payment questions and enquiries from students and families, reducing the burden on staff.
Not only can students pay and view their balance and payment status in real time, reducing inbound payment enquiries, but faster payment allocation also speeds up related processes—such as student visas, enrolment and credit control—and improves student satisfaction.
Enhancements to the integration are already in development, which will allow students to set up installment plans within the SITS system with Flywire processing the recurring transactions, all while enabling backend efficiencies.
Understanding that cost can often be a barrier to implementation, Flywire stands behind the cost savings the integration will deliver by offering a sliding-scale rebate to joint clients to cover certain implementation costs, based on money moved figures within the first year.
The Flywire integration with Tribal SITS has been a huge success for us. Payments are now a seamless part of the enrolment process, benefiting not only students who are able to make payments within a familiar environment, but also our staff who have saved countless hours of reconciliation and dealing with student enquiries.
